Privacy Policy

InternetSpeedTest.online (https://internetspeedtest.online/) is built on a strict privacy-first architecture. This Privacy Policy details the data flows that occur when you browse our site, execute a speed test, or generate shareable results, confirming our complete commitment to zero tracking, zero advertising profiling, and zero central database retention.

Core privacy commitments

At InternetSpeedTest.online (https://internetspeedtest.online/), your digital privacy is an architectural guarantee, not an afterthought. Our platform adheres to these strict operating standards:

  • Zero Tracking & Zero Ad Profiling: We do not run Google Analytics, Meta Pixels, invasive fingerprinting scripts, behavioral advertising trackers, or remarketing tags.
  • No Central Measurement Database: Your test metrics (download speed, upload speed, latency, jitter, bufferbloat, and packet loss) are computed client-side in your browser and are never stored in a central database on our servers.
  • No First-Party Tracking Cookies: Our website code deposits zero tracking or marketing cookies on your device.
  • Strictly Local History: Recent test results are saved exclusively inside your browser's local HTML5 localStorage on your physical device, completely under your control.
  • Disabled Upstream Telemetry: In our speed test controller (src/scripts/speedtest.ts), all optional telemetry reporting endpoints to Cloudflare’s Aggregated Internet Measurement (AIM) database are explicitly set to null.

Operator identity & contact

This platform operates under the domain InternetSpeedTest.online (https://internetspeedtest.online/). For questions regarding this Privacy Policy, our data practices, or correspondence records, contact our designated administrator at [email protected]. For formal business agreements or contractual matters, contact our contracts desk at [email protected].

Data processed during website browsing

InternetSpeedTest.online is hosted statically on Cloudflare Pages. When your browser requests any HTML page, stylesheet, image, or JavaScript asset, Cloudflare’s global edge infrastructure processes standard HTTP transmission metadata:

  • Your device’s public IP address (required at the TCP/IP network layer to deliver content packets back to your device)
  • Requested URL path and query parameters
  • Browser User-Agent header (operating system and browser engine)
  • HTTP Referrer header
  • Request timestamp and TLS cryptographic cipher suite

Our application code maintains no server-side visitor logs or user profiling databases. Cloudflare processes network metadata transiently as described in Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy to deliver web assets, cache static files at edge nodes, and protect the infrastructure against distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

Network data flows during a speed test

When you click "Start Test" on our home page or any dedicated tool page, the following client-side network interactions occur:

1. Dynamic engine loading

The core measurement library (@cloudflare/speedtest) is fetched directly from our static origin. It executes entirely client-side within your browser's JavaScript sandbox.

2. Throughput & latency probes

Your browser executes timed HTTP GET requests (ranging from 0-byte pings to 250 MB chunks) and HTTP POST requests (up to 50 MB payloads) terminating at speed.cloudflare.com. In fulfilling these requests, Cloudflare edge servers receive your IP address solely to transmit the test packets over TCP/IP.

3. Explicit telemetry suppression

Cloudflare’s open-source engine includes default parameters that can optionally report completed measurement summaries to Cloudflare’s AIM research database. In our production configuration, we have explicitly disabled all telemetry endpoints:

  • logAimApiUrl: null (AIM research logging permanently disabled)
  • logMeasurementApiUrl: null (Measurement telemetry logging permanently disabled)

As a result, your measured throughput, latency, and jitter remain entirely on your local device. Review our complete testing mechanics in our Methodology specification.

WebRTC packet loss & ephemeral TURN relays

Standard HTTP transfers run over TCP, which automatically conceals packet loss through silent retransmissions. To measure packet loss accurately, InternetSpeedTest.online utilizes WebRTC data channels running over User Datagram Protocol (UDP):

  1. Your browser queries our serverless function at /api/turn-credentials to request temporary relay credentials.
  2. The function requests short-lived credentials (valid for 600 seconds) from Cloudflare’s Realtime TURN service. The function does not write to a database and returns only the temporary username, credential token, and relay host (turn.cloudflare.com:3478).
  3. Your browser streams 1,000 sequentially numbered UDP datagrams through the TURN relay, which reflects them back to calculate the packet loss ratio. Cloudflare’s TURN servers process your IP address strictly to route the returning datagrams.

Test your connection stability on our dedicated packet loss test.

Browser-local storage (test history)

To help you track connection performance over time, our speed test widget stores your most recent test results (up to five entries) directly inside your browser’s HTML5 localStorage under the key ist-history-v1. Each saved record contains:

  • Timestamp of the test execution
  • Download throughput (bps)
  • Upload throughput (bps)
  • Idle latency / Ping (ms)

This data resides exclusively on your local physical device. It is never transmitted across the network, synchronized to a server, or shared with third parties. You can permanently erase this history at any time by clicking the "Clear history" button beneath the test interface on our home page, or by clearing browsing data in your web browser settings.

Client-side shareable result links

If you click "Share Result" after completing a test, InternetSpeedTest.online generates a URL in the following format: https://internetspeedtest.online/result/v1-[encoded-values]/.

  • Client-Side URL Encoding: The URL encodes your test numbers (download, upload, ping, jitter, packet loss, and timestamp) directly into an alphanumeric string within the URL path. Our servers do not store or track this result in any database.
  • Client-Side Reconstruction: When a recipient opens the link, their web browser decodes the metrics directly from the URL path.
  • Search Engine Exclusion: All shared result pages include a strict <meta name="robots" content="noindex, follow"> directive and an HTTP X-Robots-Tag: noindex header to ensure search engines do not index shared results.

Cookies & third-party tracking scripts

InternetSpeedTest.online sets no first-party functional, analytical, or advertising cookies. When visiting this website, no tracking cookies will be deposited on your device by our application code.

Our hosting provider (Cloudflare Pages) may set strictly necessary edge security cookies (such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance) on incoming requests solely for bot detection, automated abuse mitigation, and DDoS prevention. These cookies do not track users across unrelated websites and cannot be disabled without compromising site availability.

Email correspondence & data retention

If you choose to contact us by emailing [email protected] or [email protected], we receive your email address, sender name, and the text of your message. We use this information solely to review, investigate, and reply to your inquiry, bug report, or contractual proposal. We do not sell email addresses, do not add contact email addresses to marketing mailing lists, and delete correspondence when it is no longer required for administrative records.

Data domain distinction: client vs. provider

Data Domain What Is Handled Where It Resides Who Can Access It
Client Browser Recent test history (last 5 results), visual theme preferences. Your device’s localStorage. Only you (via your web browser). We cannot access it remotely.
Website Operator Direct email correspondence sent to our contact addresses. Administrative email mailbox. Website administrator, strictly to resolve inquiries.
Edge Infrastructure (Cloudflare) Transient HTTP request metadata (IP address, requested URI, TLS version). Cloudflare edge points of presence. Cloudflare infrastructure, governed by Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy.

Global privacy rights (GDPR, CCPA & US State Laws)

Under international and regional data privacy frameworks—including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union and United Kingdom, and comprehensive United States privacy statutes such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA)—users hold rights regarding the access, rectification, portability, and erasure of personal data.

Because InternetSpeedTest.online does not operate user accounts, visitor profiles, behavioral tracking cookies, or server databases linking test metrics to identifiable personal records, our application layer holds no stored personal records to access or delete. The specific data domains are handled as follows:

  • Browser History: Your test records reside exclusively in your browser’s local storage. You can access or permanently delete them at any time directly through your browser or the "Clear history" button.
  • Email Correspondence: If you have contacted us via email, you may request the review or deletion of your message history by writing to [email protected].
  • Edge Infrastructure Logs: Transient network transmission logs handled at Cloudflare's edge are managed under Cloudflare's data retention policies.
